Glasgow Open Tournament

Glasgow Touch Association Open Tournament 2009

Saturday 27th June

The Glasgow Open Tournament will take place on the 27th June at Cambuslang RFC. Registration form can be downloaded here Tournament Registration Form 2009, and must be returned no later than 20th June to guarantee entry.

The competition will be open to mixed teams, and entry fee is £130 (or £100 for entries received before the 13th June).

This year the Glasgow Open will form part of the Scottish Touch Series, so expect a good mix of social and highly competitive touch with teams travelling from all over the world.

Scottish Touch Series

The Scottish Touch Series (STS) will bring together well-established Scottish touch events into a co-ordinated series, allowing teams to test themselves against the best in the country across key events throughout the summer.

The STS will provide clubs and teams participating in established one day tournaments an additional opportunity for top level competition and the honour of being recognised as the STS Champions.

In 2009, the tournaments making up the inaugural STS are:

  • Stirling Open, Saturday 6th June
  • Glasgow Open, Saturday 27th June
  • Aberdeen Summer Tournament, Saturday 18th July
  • Edinburgh Open, Saturday 12th September

Ah, Vienna...

...means a lot to Spiders, as they triumph over European opposition.

Glasgow Spiders started the 2009 touch season in style, winning top honours at the Vienna touch tournament against teams from Vienna, Brussels, Munich, and other major European cities. The Viennese hosts put on a fantastic event, and hopefully some of the stunning weather will accompany the silverware back to Scotland.
