Glasgow Touch League 2012

The Glasgow Touch Association1 is now inviting entries for the 2012 touch league. The league will be held at Balgray Playing Fields, from Thursday 10th May - 26th July. Entry is open to mixed, mens and womens teams, with any level of experience, and fixtures shall be organised such that players can participate in both mixed and single sex teams. Entry form available to download here GTA - League Registration Form.docx or GTA - League Registration Form.pdf.

Referees
The smooth running of the league is dependant on the invaluable support of our volunteer referees. However, in order to alleviate scheduling difficulties and reduce the strain on a relatively small number of referees, this year we have introduced an additional fee for any teams who choose not to assist with the refereeing effort, see registration form for details. Glasgow Touch will be running a level 1 referee course prior to the start of the league to ensure teams are able to provide qualified referees. All course costs (incl. referee shirt) will be fully subsidised, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Coaching
Glasgow Touch will once again be providing free social/coaching sessions at Glasgow Green from April 12th - May 3rd (6:30-8:00pm), and this year will be providing further opportunities for coaching on league nights. 1Glasgow Touch Association - The GTA is the representative body for touch in Glasgow.

National Representative Support

Glasgow Touch Association are delighted to announce Glasgow based players and managers who represented Scotland at the 2011 Touch World Cup in Edinburgh, are to receive funding towards the cost of their participation. National squad players are entirely self funded, each paying more than £700 to cover the cost of training, kit and accommodation.

The GTA will contribute over £2400, to be distributed between players and managers according to their costs for the event. The aim is to ensure continued involvement of these individuals in the highest level of touch available, therefore furthering development of touch in the region. The GTA's joint role as regional association and organiser of the Summer league, has enabled this level of investment, the beneficiaries of which are the lifeblood of touch in Glasgow.
